ABC News Digital Platforms Start New Year with All-Time Record Highs

WEB AND MOBILE USERS TURN TO ABC NEWS DIGITAL FOR SUPER TUESDAY POLITICAL COVERAGE

During February 5th's Super Tuesday presidential primaries and caucuses, web and mobile users turned to ABC News' digital platforms for up-to-the-minute news and analysis. On Super Tuesday, ABC News Digital garnered all-time highs in traffic across all platforms continuing its record-breaking growth in January.

ABCNEWS.com was up 53% in page views on Super Tuesday from an average day, with ABCNEWS.com's Politics section experiencing a huge surge in traffic. Some of the most popular destinations on the site included ABC News' interactive map that provided real-time results, broken down by state and ABC News Senior Political Reporter and author of "The Note," Rick Klein's live blogging feature.

ABC News NOW's Super Tuesday coverage was streamed live on ABCNEWS.com. High political interest in the presidential primaries translated to ABC News NOW's "Talk Back" feature, where viewers submitted hundreds of videos to ABC News NOW. Videos were then selected and used throughout ABC News NOW's political coverage.

Mobile users turned to ABC News Mobile's real-time primary and caucus results, accessing the latest news from m.abcnews.com . The mobile site saw nearly 750,000 page views and the real-time results garnered almost 120,000 page views on Super Tuesday, according to ABC's measurements.

The Super Tuesday surge in ABC News' Digital traffic, comes on the heels of a record breaking January 2008. For January, ABCNEWS.com broke all previous traffic records, reaching nearly 22 million unique visitors, up 29% from the previous month, according to ABC's measurements. ABCNEWS.com had more than 202 million page views, up 32% from the previous month, according to ABC. In January, the site increased video views by 157% compared to the same time last year – in part due to increased interest in political content. The Politics section of ABCNEWS.com surged in traffic in January, seeing triple-digit growth from the previous month – 170% according to ABC's measurements. Also in January, ABC News' "The Note," had an increase of 234% in page views from the previous month and the Political Radar, the breaking political news blog, saw a 94% increase in page views from the previous month, according to ABC's measurements.

In January 2008, ABC News Mobile m.abcnews.com continued to experience double-digit growth -- with 14.8 million Mobile page views, an increase of 50% from the previous month, according to ABC's measurements.

ABC News Digital platforms continue to break news in the political front. Inspired by Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign, the music video for the new original song, the "Yes We Can Song" by Black Eyed Peas frontman, songwriter and producer will.i.am and director and filmmaker Jesse Dylan debuted on ABC News NOW's "What's the Buzz" on Friday, February 1. The entire video first aired on ABC News NOW and has since spread virally, becoming one of the most watched and talked about political statements from Hollywood.
